I'm a transplant living on rural TN/AL border, missing the north's abundance of stores located within my then homes driveway. I had to learn & accept that Walmart would be the store to make purchases from. Traveling from one state to another to get what I need is exhausting, there & back is about a 45-50 mile trip. There is no public transportation across state lines, thus you must hire a Taxi to the new hospital in Florence if your an inpatient. There is no rural dead or nuisance animal help; Some insurance companies will not give policy due to rural's not having a fire hydrant for water. Walmart on the TN side & in Florence and Cloverleaf, AL basically have some real nice employees. I find the cashiers, customer service & floor workers to be pleasant when you ask for help. I can confirm the above stores are clean with their aisles being ok ample. There are a few negatives to cite - their bathrooms are often in need of attention. The Alabama "Kohls" store has the very best women's public bathroom that Walmart could learn from; Walmart does not have a store manager, like Lowe's, they have daily so called managers that are nowhere to be found even when called over the P.A. system; And importantly Walmart NO longer has the best prices, Lowe's prices can often be less on the same items; Walmart does have the best Milk prices, but for my pets food, a 22-ounce can was .78, that went to after 1-1-2023 to now $2.00 a can. I did see the store invoice on this product and there was NO price increase to account for the cost of just this one item & there are many other examples I won't take time to mention here. In closing I decided to write because of the TN Walmart score of 1.5 stars being to me a bit harsh. No they are not perfect but they are the best us citizens have since Kmart, JCP, Sears & Best-Buy have already closed with possibly Target being next; I feel with Walmart returns being easy to do that the 3-stores above should have at least a 3.5 store rating.
