- The Aurora School is a caring, educational community that offers a quality education for individuals with special needs. We challenge our students to achieve personal excellence and independence.We provide a progressive learning environment that serves individuals with intellectual disabilities, ages 5 to 22. Using the latest techniques, curricula, and technology, students and their families become active partners in their individualized education program.We offer a wide variety of special education programs. Our curricula and activities are made to meet the individual students needs. Among the skills we teach our students are:Verbal behaviorAcademic literacyReadingSocial skillsSelf-managementProblem-solving skillsBoard Certified Behavior Analysts, licensed teachers, SLPs and OTs are part of every students team. Aurora is also a practicum and internship site for several notable Behavior Analysts and Special Education Programs. Many of our staff are active participants in research at local, national, and international conferences specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis, Autism and Behavior Management. We have a License to operate, from the Virginia Board of Education.
