Berks County Public Libraries is made up of more than 23 public library sites throughout Berks County, Pa., offering collections of books, magazines, newspapers, audio cassettes, compact discs and videos to educate, entertain and inform the public. Inter-library loans, storytelling, tours, craft activities, book discussion groups, summer reading programs, preschool story hours and special events on holidays are available for children and adults. Additionally, all public libraries offer free access to the Internet. The library staff answers questions in person or over the telephone, assisting students, researchers and anyone else who needs information. While each library has a collection of reference materials, the Reading Public Library, with its specialized collections has more extensive reference resources and a larger staff of professional librarians.
