J.B.Martin offers a wide array of velvets for the apparel, home furnishing, home sewing, casket, jewelry box and photographic industries. The company uses a variety of types fibers, including acetate, polyester, rayon, cotton, wool and silk. Its techniques used to achieve surface interest are embossing, heat brushing and shimmering. J.B. Martin also offers a wide variety of prints in both its apparel and home furnishing divisions. The company claims its origins in the Textile city of Lyon, France, where it had been exporting velvets to world markets since the early part of the nineteenth century. J.B. Martin Company began its North American activity in Norwich, Conn., in 1893, and relocated to in South Carolina in the late 1950s.
