On 15 July 2011, I had to re...

On 15 July 2011, I had to remove (via towing) my ZX10R from this shop, escorted by a deputy sheriff, because after over four months of lies and deceit, the owner, Mr. Sam Bauges, was becoming increasingly belligerent and still was not even half way finished with repairs that he was paid for in March. Both my insurance claims adjuster and I were told that one to two parts were missing. I posted the pictures of my motorcycle that I took immediately before towing and will gladly share the link with those that want it for visual proof of what a “finished” job waiting on a couple of parts looks like after 4 months and one week with Sam Bauges and So Cal Custom Cycles. If you want the full story, keep reading.

After an accident on 10 March 2011 (that I walked away from) I had Mr. Bauges tow my motorcycle from Mesa College Drive to his shop. Mr. Bauges appeared to be very genuine in his concern for my well-being and for that of my motorcycle. I was very pleased and, quite frankly, thoroughly impressed with his professionalism and his speedy arrival time. I decided to ask Mr. Bauges to initiate an insurance estimate because I wanted him to perform all of the repairs. My leg had been slightly injured in the accident so I told him and his wife that I would not mind waiting the one month to five weeks estimated repair time that they gave me, as this would give me time to heal.

Week 5 is when my real problems started and Mr. Bauges’ rudeness and lack of professionalism started showing. I repeatedly asked Mr. Bauges and his wife if they had any status on the repairs or parts since nothing had been done at all. I was told constantly that they were waiting on parts. At the 3-month point, I started getting impatient. I asked Mr. Bauges for a truthful status and estimated time for completion and he said he was still waiting on a muffler. I made an arrangement to have him reinstall the old muffler and I would replace it myself after he got the part. He agreed to this and promised that my motorcycle would be finished the following Tuesday.

When I arrived at his shop on the date he promised to have everything completed, nothing more had been done to my motorcycle and he claimed to be waiting on yet another part! Was there not enough time in 4 months to make sure you ordered all of the parts you needed, Mr. Bauges? This same visit, I asked Mr. Bauges what I was supposed to do and he offered the advice of “go online like your [buddy] and write a bad review, like that will do anything.” Then he tried to charge me for a battery that was never disconnected in the entire time my motorcycle was in his possession (Lo-Jack records show the battery still having a charge for a month and a half after being in his shop). After asking if I could get part numbers of the missing items so that I could check shops in the area, including Tijuana, he laughed at me. I contacted my insurance and requested their involvement, I began correspondence with a former employee and a few people that have been cheated, scammed, or lied to by Mr. Bauges, and I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Bureau of Automotive Repairs.

My insurance adjuster was told that there was only one part left that they were waiting on but after 4 months and one week of waiting, Mr. Bauges still had not replaced the windshield, the brake or clutch handles, the handle bar end caps, the rear seat, the mirrors, the leaking engine covers, nor had he even installed the seat assembly.

Finally, if any of you have had similar experiences or if you have any questions, please contact me. maikl (dot) kesh (at) gmail (dot) com. I would hate to see any more people get treated this way.

Dont take it their save yourself the time and headaches. I wont have to do much explaining because lucky for me the Owner SAM BAUGES made himself an even bigger fool infront of both me and the police. He had the bike for over THREE months and I gave him plenty of opportunities to keep his end of the bargain which was fixing my bike. He couldnt even do that and eventually he disrespected me and my husband. My bike is in worse condition now then when I took it in. Do you know what three months of waiting got me?? NOTHING my bike is in pieces. Dont waste your time Dawn (the wife) and SAM or just rude people who could careless about their customers. If this is not proof enough of the true person the owner SAM is then I dont know how much more proof you would need.

This Sam Bruges is is a lying, unethical, arrogant, unperforming, money stealing, scam scum, that works with likes of the devil.it takes about 2 seconds to figure that out. I ripped off 1600$ ,bike stolen but then found at other shop,a physical assault on me that hurt me so bad to miss 3 days of work court hearings.i only got restitution for assault ,he went to jail. My bike was worse off. See he puts the business license in other sucker friends so he's not lia ble for anything either is the other person who has the license. Yeh that the system that he's figured out. Just keep on ripping you off. With no recall
He laughs at you like your the idiot that prepaid me . What you can't afford parts, what time do you actually work. I can't believe Canfield brakes across the street that's his landlord, still rent to this wanna be reputable bike shop. There are to many shops out there that are honest good and want to perform for your business to even give this guy 1 penny. For years now I've been taking my motor toys to the Bike Doctor in elchon just 1 good honest man who fear forms and likes my business..

Sam Baugues has always been a "Con-Artist" every since he was young. Every since he was a teenager, Sam has been beating people up who disagree with him, he has always stolen and been a thief. Every friend he had he had burned his bridges and people were always afraid of him. Don't trust him

The owner seems to mean well, ...

The owner seems to mean well, but definitely has a customer service issue. My bike was in his possession for over 3 weeks with a simple charging issue. I payed full price for my parts maybe even over priced (at least MSRP) 497.00 for stator and Regulator. Which I eventually found for 100.00 less online afterwards. I feel, if i'm paying full price I should have great service. I felt disrespected and disreguarded. I didn't feel welcomed, and didn't feel a sense of earned trust. That's a 650.00 lesson I guess.
