I, like many other people in my area, are forced to use Nittany Media because for some reason none of the other more well known Cable companies provide service in my area. I have never been more angered and frustrated as I have when dealing with this company!! They are fortunate in one aspect and that's, they know that they're the only ones who provide service in my area so any unhappy customer's like myself, and many others, can't threaten to join another cable provider because there aren't any!! If there is a problem with your TV service or internet service, it is NEVER their fault it's always yours, despite any obvious evidence to the contrary. I have finally "cut the cord" with them as far as my TV service is concerned and have gone with streaming TV.

I am of the unfortunate rural population that only has one option for internet and cable service, and that option is Nittany Media. Also unfortunate is the fact that they seem to be very aware that they are the only option in my area. I, and my family, have had problems with Nittany Media for years with no escape available. Most recently, in 2012 my internet service became unusable for most of the day nearly every day for most of the year, and my cable TV (HD channels) became fuzzy or would not come in at all. Despite call after call, technician visit after technician visit (which lasted about 5-10 minutes and ended with "i see no problem here") my internet service repeatedly failed to get any better. Any patience or bridges I had left with Nittany Media were burnt and utterly destroyed during this period. Finally, after months and months and months they fixed something (they never did tell me what), and my internet started working. This was after I replaced my modem, my router, bought new splitters, etc because they told me they didn't think it was on their end. To top it all off, the manager told me that they were going to reimburse us some of our bills for the months of poor service after it was fixed, and of course that was never done or acknowledged again. I give the benefit of the doubt to any company or business until it is utterly exhausted, and in the case of Nittany Media it is beyond exhausted.

Long story short, the very second I am able to find a different company in my area I will switch. I don't even care if it costs more. Has my internet been working fairly well for the last few months? Sure. Does that make up for the months and years of infuriating customer service and product inferiority? No it does not. I am not exaggerating when I say that even if Nittany Media were to offer me free service for the rest of my life I would still switch companies without blinking an eye. They have never made any attempts to rectify the nearly worthless service they gave us during that period. I understand this is a very harsh review. I had reached the point where I had compiled data, witnesses, screenshots of speedtests, etc because I intended to present it against them if their customer service continued to resolve what was probably a very easy issue to fix in the long run. My advise, if you live in a rural area and have more than one option, is to steer clear. Your service may be better if you live closer to their hub, but pray that you never have a real issue, because it will likely take forever to fix and will exhaust you in the process.

I was a Nittany Media customer for ten years, then became interested in internet service only. Due to some damaged fiber-optic issues and one 3-day outage, I allowed myself to be sucked in by a Verizon cut price for one year. Three years later my $20 a month to Verizon is now $78. NMax is still $49 and their speed is EIGHT TIMES what V. DSL delivers (12+ Mbps vs. 1-point-5 from Verizon when it was working...but maybe people don't mind tech and customer support from India in unintelligible English). I have never had an issue getting help or service from N. Media and they have always been professional. So where did the rotten reviews come from? Sorry you had trouble. Maybe you should stop by the office So glad to be back.

Reviews bellow are dead on. You would get better service from NetZero. That is sadly not an exaggeration either. 56k dial-up seriously outperforms this company's connection in every aspect, speed, latency, and reliability. This company is nothing short of a SCAM!

Without a doubt, the worst internet service around. The internet is constantly down and there is absolutely no compensation for this. Dealing with this company is frustrating, at best. If you're moving into an area where this is your only cable /Internet option, get satellite!

If I could rate Nittany Media 0 stars I would. WORST Internet providers I've ever had in my whole entire life! Internet goes down ALL the time and even if you call the company over 30 times (i have) they still dont do anything about it. Then they dont give you a discount or any money off your bill whats so ever and they dont care if you're losing money or anything. Most inconsiderate bunch of idiots I've ever seen in my life. If you need reliable internet service DO NOT go to Nittany Media!

BEWARE hidden disconnect fee and poor cusotmer service!

This cable company, unlike others in PA, charges a $25.00 disconnect fee. I never signed a contract or received any terms and conditions of service, but they added this fee to my final bill. I have contacted them multiple times, and the two ladies who answered the phones argued with me about why they charge the fee. When I asked to speak with a manager, both times I was told that no managers or supervisors were in the office (on two different days.) I asked them to have a manager call me to discuss, but it's been a week with no return call. Their customer service is poor - they have not returned my calls on this, and when I had problems with my cable internet service in the past, they did not return my calls then. I had to call repeatedly to ask for assistance, and they finally told me they didn't know how to get my computer set up to accept their cable internet service. (there was no setup CD or instructions provided.)My computer geek friend changed the settings on my computer for me so it would work.
