We, the family of God that meets at North Lexington, exist as one of many autonomous congregations of the Lord's church that strive to believe, teach, and practice the principles of Christianity taught by Jesus and His apostles and characteristic of all believers in the First Century. In order to advance the unity of believers as Jesus prayed ( John 17: 20-21 ), we promote the abandonment of man made creeds, human traditions, and denominational division. We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God and accept the New Testament as the only acceptable standard of authority in religious practice ( 2 Timothy 3: 16-17 ; John 12: 48 ; Colossians 3: 17 ). Therefore, we exist independently, desiring to speak where the Bible speaks and to remain silent where the Bible is silent. We believe that when mankind rejects human tradition and appeals to the Bible's authority, all believers will enjoy unity in name, organization, doctrine, worship, and life. North Lexington Church of Christ is overseen locally by elders who meet the Biblical qualifications ( 1 Timothy 3: 1-7 ; Titus 1: 5-9 ) and guide the congregation in our practices as we submit to the headship of Jesus Christ ( Ephesians 1: 22-23 ). Following the New Testament pattern of worship, we observe the Lord's Supper on the first day of each week, engage in congregational singing, offer prayers of supplication and thanksgiving to God, receive edification through the teaching of God's Holy Word, and give of the financial means that God has graciously placed in our possession. We emphasize godly living, love for each other and our fellow man, and every-member evangelism. Simply stated, we seek to be the same church you read about in the New Testament in doctrine and practice. We cordially invite you to visit and worship with us at your earliest convenience. We eagerly desire to meet you and look forward to the opportunity of serving you!
