First time here. I was a bit apprehensive but after a while I relaxed. The chef was very entertaining and good at his craft. The food was very good. I got Hibachi Steak that I requested cooked medium. It was very very good!

I am a bit naive about average prices in a upper scale restaurant like this place, but being the potential cheap skate that I am.. It was just a touch pricey to me.. However having said that, I can not really complain because it was soooooo good.. I recommend it highly. I didn't try the sushi this time. but Michelle did and she said it was superb! Looked OK to me, but I'm more picky about raw food.

Rate it a 4 out of 5. Only because I'm such a cheap Skate. HA..

a wonderful culinary treat

My husband and I eat out on a regular basis as we both travel frequently. We found that the service at Miyakos was exceptionally good and that the food was even better. The habachi chef was highly entertaining, extremely personable, and what's more, he truly seemed to be having a great time as well! I would reccomend Miyakos to anyone who enjoys upscale Japanese cuisine-- it's the best Habachi we've eaten in Lexington!

Best sushi place in town!

Ate at Miyako's last week for the first time and tried the tuna fantastic roll. I had never had it before, me and my friends cannot get enough! I definitely recommend this to anyone who loves japanese cuisine or is looking to try something new. The Hibachi grill was also amazing, the cooks are so funny! The volcano they made out of the onion had everyone at our table surprised.

Significant Room For Improvement

Found the value for the food portions, quality, and service to be low compared to other Japanese restaurants offering this type of fare. We were seated on the hibachi side promptly, but there is little space between chairs and we felt cramped. Our orders were taken promptly, and the salad (no choice of dressing) arrived on time, but the soup arrived in the middle of the hibachi service. Chef forgot to provide us with accompanying sauces and had to be reminded by the waitress as he was leaving. We found the portions to be much smaller than what we were accustomed to and the taste of the food to be rather bland. The kicker was when our party of three was presented with a check with the 18% gratuity already included. The hostess seemed to shrug off our concern, stating it was probably just a simple mistake. In contrast, our waitress was very good, providing us with frequent drink refills and being responsive to our concerns. To the restaurant, I would recommend providing more generous portions (even at a slightly higher price), paying more attention to detail, and reassessing how food is prepared (this might have just been a lack of consistency on the part of the chef).
