Smokey Mountain Truck Outfitters is top notch!!  They did a complete lift kit install and other upgrades to my 2016 Jeep JKUR.  The quality of work is great and they are committed to getting everything dialed in perfectly before letting your vehicle leave their shop.  They also have a very nice facility and extremely knowledgeable and helpful staff.  They're not just order takers like a lot of corporate owned stores.  They actually use and know about what they are selling and will help you find exactly what you need for your build.  Their prices for parts and installation are very fair and they seem to carry EVERYTHING.  I'm an old school car guy who is typically hard to impress and they have definitely impressed me.  Thanks Smokey Mountain Truck Outfitters for great service!!!

Find somewhere else to get your work done

My order was for a new radio to replace the old one. The guys at the shop suggested a Kenwood DMX125BT. As an upsell they also suggested the replacement Climate control module.

To be fair both of these items looked great once installed. The problem however came later.

A few days after I got the new system installed, I noticed that my truck wouldn't start... I took it to AutoZone and they verified that I had a bad battery, so I replaced it and went about my day. Soon after that I moved to Texas... Where the battery issue continued to be a problem... So I replaced it again.

If the truck was left to sit for 3-5 days or so it would not start as the battery was dead... This batter was under warranty @ AutoZone, so I got a new one.

I then took it to an auto shop and they tried to trace the issue... Which wasn't obvious. They ended up installing a 3rd new battery and a new alternator.
Just over 1000$ worth of parts and labor... However this did not fix the issue... So I took it back and they did a multi-day parasitic draw test to find the electrical draw that was draining my battery.

Turns out it was in the new climate control module (or wiring harness that it was hooked up with)? The radio / climate control module was coming on randomly with the truck off and no key in the ignition... this was draining the battery over multiple days (as it wasn't being driven daily due to the pandemic). This sort of drain on a batter will cause them to go bad... Thus the 3 batteries that had died over a 3 month period.

At this point they gave up and recommended I go to a shop that specializes in audio customization... Which I did.

That shop verified that the issue was with the compatibility with the setup and my vehicle. You see, a special wiring harness is needed to ensure things work properly... and my truck did not have that installed.

This shop then had to remove the entire setup that was installed by Smokey Mountain Truck Jeep Outfitters and replace it with an entirely new setup; New radio / new dash kit / new wiring harness / new climate control module. This was also just over 1000$.

So here I am over 2000$ deep (not including the parts and labor for the initial install) in costs associated with getting my truck to start when I need it to.

At this point I called Smokey Mountain Truck Jeep Outfitters to see if they would be willing to do anything for me to make this right.

1. The initial call I waited on hold for 25 mins before I hung up to call back.
2. After calling back I gave the rundown of the situation and my contact info asking for a call back... Another half hour passed... so I called them back again.
3. This time they told me that they were really busy... So I told them that I had been patient and wanted to speak to someone... And expected to be able to do so seeing as I had paid for this equipment and work that was 2000% useless.

It became clear that they had no intent of trying to make things right... so here I am having to eat all the costs noted above and I still have this equipment they sold me that is useless with my vehicle.

DONT WALK, RUN AWAY! - I expected better and you should too!

Walked in with no appointment and they tinted my 2018 Stingray in less than 2 hours. Excellent work, car looks great. Had 3 price quotes in advance and nobody could beat their cost, quality and timing. Would go back again.
