The Workshop of Davidson is a private, nonprofit organization and an agency of the United Way of Davidson County. It is located in Lexington, N.C., and is accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. Operational for more than 40 years, the organization has served over 2,600 people with disabilities. The Workshop of Davidson offers a program where individuals are tested for work skills and habits and physical abilities, as well as provided with employment opportunities. It offers the Adult Developmental Vocational Program (ADVP), which teaches prevocational, social and daily living skills. In addition, the organization provides a community employment services program that includes employment placement, as well as short-term job coaching after the completion of job skills training period.
