The Road Maintenance office is managed by the Public Works Department, which is administered by the government of Lexington County in South Carolina. The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance, repair, design and construction of the various roads. It maintains more than 350 miles of paved roads, associated right-of-ways and drainage systems. The department operates through administration, engineering, transportation and vector control divisions. Its day-to-day operations include pot hole patching, sign replacement and dirt roads scraping services. The Public Works Department also administers water and air quality programs. In addition, its stormwater division oversees subdivision and commercial development review, inspection and federal compliance for floodplain management.
