Provided by YP.comWe were very pleased with the service provided by Steele's Well & Pump Co. Wayne Steele answered the phone when I called and showed up on time as well as did exactly what he said he would do. His crew was very professional and courteous. They cleaned up before they left and Wayne did not leave until he was satisfied that we were happy with his work. I would recommend this company as the best around.

Provided by YP.comWe suspected our water pump was going bad. Steele's well and pump came out to check things out. Wayne Steele merely put a tester on the pump and read off numbers to me stating the pump was bad and that it was most likely due to lightening based on his “experience”. He stated insurance should cover it. It was difficult getting a straight answer on price range for the repair. He said the pumps he had ranged between $950 - $1200, labor would be around $400-$500, and electrical wire replacement to the pump around $400-$500. So all together around $2000. I had no experience with well pump repair costs, so I didn’t know what to do. I told him I’d have to get back with him, so he said “ok, that will be $150 for the service call”. He charged me $150 just for his 5 minute analysis. My gut was telling me something wasn’t right. I contacted a trusted source to get their opinion on the repair cost and they told me it was way too high. I wrote a check for the $150 and asked if I did end up calling him back, would he take the amount off the total repair cost. He said he would be willing to take off $75 off. The last bit of our conversation he explained that he was 99% certain the pump went bad due to lightening, and how he would state “lightening damage” in the repair bill for insurance purposes, and that he has a good reputation with the insurance companies. He also went on to state that many other companies won’t do this. I guess he figured I wouldn’t care how much the repair would be thinking my homeowner insurance would cover it. We ended up hiring another company to do the repair and it cost HALF the price of what Steele estimated. BTW…the old pump had signs of wear and tear, and segments were loose. It was obviously NOT lightening damage. Be very CAREFUL when dealing with companies/people like this. I'm glad it's still America where we can all share our experiences.
