LexingtonRICHMOND - Dr. James Wallace Webb, 66, gentle man, humanist, adored husband, beloved father and stepfather, brother and friend, passed away at his home surrounded by his family after a valiant fight against gastric cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.R. Webb and Elizabeth Wallace Webb, a son, John Carl Webb, his first wife, Mary Sisson Webb, and his English Cocker Spaniel, Eliza. He is survived by his wife Leda Tilton, his son, Eric Webb, Lexington, his daughter, Catherine Webb Hackett (Robert), Grand Rapids, MI, his two step-daughters, Jessica Roitman (Maarten de Kok), Leiden, The Netherlands, and Susannah Roitman (Dan Wu), Brooklyn, NY, his grand children, Joseph and Elizabeth Hackett and Maximilaan Darius de Kok, his sister and brother, Betty Tassin and Ray Webb, Grenada, MS, and his former in-laws, Betty and Wallace Sandifer, Baton Rouge, LA. Dr. Webb was born in Mobile, AL, and raised in Alexandria, LA. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University earning is Bachelors, Masters and Ph.D in history there. Dr. Webb taught in the Social Sciences and History Dept. at EKU for 32 years.
