Agavero Cantina, you will like the brick, wood and stucco interior, decorated with photos, momentos and relics from Mexico, past and present. There's a wall made of kegs in which tequila was aged — where else can you see that?

The menu offers all the familiar favorites — you will be especially pleased to find chimichanga listed. And then there are the specialties, including the chef's ribeye dish and one with tilapia and shrimp. But what stoods out is the seemingly unending variety of ways to combine everything you love about Mexican cuisine on your plate.

We have the best tacos around and also the chile relenos, the chalupas and the beef burritos.

We have vegetarian options and kids' menu.

Our bar area is cozy and set apart from the restaurant, so if you're just in the mood for a margarita, they've got a wide variety, including fruit-flavored.

The waiters are friendly and attentive.

Put this on your calendar or consider yourself warned, according to your taste: Thursday night is Mariachi night at Agavero.

Food is good but a small cheese dip is $4 and it's the same size as a to go salsa. Felt ripped off!!

This is not your normal "Tex-Mex" kind of place. It's a bit more "gourmet" Mexican cuisine. Everything from the decor to the menu to the food will, without question, let you know that you are not going to have an average "Mexican Joint" experience. Even the salsa is exotic, arriving at your table in three varieties, including classic tomato, a guacamole salsa, and a peanut salsa. Weekends offer up a mariachi band that is fun but nowhere near as obnoxious as most places, and the staff tries to make your visit personable and unique. They are new, however, so there are a few kinks to be worked out, i.e., stocking the bar with the usual top-shelf liquor you'd expect (they didn't have Tanqueray for a gin & tonic), and ironing out a few hiccups in the workflow, but overall a unique place! (Hint: if you like margaritas, and plan to have more than one, get the "large".... it's the most humongous margarita glass you've ever seen and just too much fun to pass up!)
