In the Sixteenth Century, the word CABINET described a room full of unusual objects (see the Frans Francken painting of a cabinet on this page). Over time the term became applied to a wooden cupboard that held curious items or objects used for a specific purpose. A COIN CABINET was one that held coins, just as a KITCHEN CABINET was one that held items used in cooking. DOCS CABINET OF CURIOSITIES is not an antique store. It is not a coin store or a used bookstore. It is not an art gallery, a library or an archive. It is a room (actually several rooms) where the curious are invited to touch the curios, to admire the unusual and to purchase artifacts for their own cabinet of curiosities.
