When we contacted Ficke and Ficke the contact person seemed professional and compassionate but there are some things you should know if you are considering Ficke and Ficke. 1. Get everything in writing. We didn't know that there would be hundreds charged for someone to move furniture from the house to the yard and a charge for partial boxes. (bottoms of boxes) We were charged $100 more than agreed upon for a repair charge. The days we requested for work and auction days were frequently changed to days we could not attend. 2. Be prepared to spend hours cleaning up after the auction. They leave a big mess and take off after the auction. In fact they ended an auction early and took off leaving an outside door off its hinges leaving the house wide open. 3. Items go cheaply, many for a dollar. (In fact they offered a whole room including 3 large pieces of furniture to a partial group of auction goers for $1.) Instead of telling auction goers what they are auctioning the description was "this here" so only people in the front of the crowd knew what was being auctioned. 4. Some paid workers openly helped themselves to some items. Also offered to pay for an item (preauction) but forgot to follow through on payment. 5. Be sure to remove all personal items before the sale. We had been guaranteed that paid workers would carefully go through everything and remove anything of a personal nature yet many family pictures, letters and even money were put out to auction. Also, the two items we requested not to be sold were put out in the sale.
