I hired Dowding Construction for a job and found his workers smoking in my house on multiple occasions. After my first couple complaints, I was told it would be taken care of right away. Needless to say, I found his workers smoking in our basement the next morning. Terrible hire on our part! I was very disappointed with Dowding Construction. I DO NOT recommend!

John Dowding was very good in the initial discussions about our project of finishing our basement. After receiving our down payment, communication with us came to a screeching halt. Dowding Construction refused to include us on any of the decision making once the job had started. The entire project took twice as long as they quoted, a common issue, however we were never notified of any delays.



The unprofessional manners of the company didn't stop at the lack of communication...Three times we arrived at our house full of smoke. On 2 occasions it was Dowding Construction workers smoking in our house and the third occasion it was worker that had been contracted to work on the house by Dowding Construction. We contacted John Dowding about the issue and we were assured it would be taken care of, but it never was. Workers continued to smoke in our house while working.



Now, to the actual job- After a long delay, Dowding Construction finally "completed" our basement. At least to their standards! After inspection, we had to have them come back on 2 separate occasions to fix their mistakes. On the third phone call, were told it wasn't their problem and refused to finish the job we had payed them for. They left the exterior of our window we had installed far from complete, saying "When we install windows we let the homeowners complete the project when it comes to the exterior side of the window, we are not in that business". He also said, "I gave you a good deal on this project, you should not be complaining about this". So after paying Dowding construction to finish a basement and install an egress window, I'm stuck trying to figure out how to fill in the gaps around the window on our window.



In short.... Do not use Dowding Construction.
