After spending $225 for 1 cord of firewood, I find that a lot (could be 50%) of the wood is encased in ice. It is obviously not burnable. Attempts to thaw it in my house has left me with a pool of messy water and logs that are thoroughly soggy. Charlie (owner?) at Stahl explained that the wood is seasoned and will dry out once covered. I explained that the wood is covered and is not likely to thaw until the temperatures rise - which won't be until Spring. In an offer to "make good", he said I could have a face cord of handpicked "dry" wood but that I'd have to pick it up. At a cost of $75! I explained that I drove a car and could not pick it up and objected to my having to pay for it. I was sold faulty merchandise. The business owner knew the wood was encased in ice when he sold it to me. He made no attempt to rectify it. The wood that I purchased won't be good until NEXT year (if it is indeed seasoned). Not for now as I intended and needed. Beware of this establishment. Not only will I never buy wood from them again, I will not buy any lawn/garden equipment from them either. They are disreputable.
