Some restauranteurs seem to think that all you need to do to get authentic French food is to cook with French recipes.

But the real secret to good French cooking lies in the quality and freshness of ingredients, and in the skill of preparation. Based on the experience of my wife and I, the Brentwood comes up far short in those areas.



Our lobster bisque showed up thin and tasteless. It was only lukewarm to boot, and had to be sent back to the kitchen. A pale imitation of the real thing. Our salads came warm and wilted, sotted with excess salad dressing. The seafood boullabaise came with a quite flavorful both, but the shrimp was overcooked and tough, and the fish was mushy and not at all flavorful. The chocolate cake served for dessert was excellent - the only part of the meal that deserved to be called French food.



The service was poor. Our server had to be repeatedly asked to bring us sugar. Our water glasses and iced tea were never refreshed. The server brought the salads before the soup. The bill for two was $80 without wine. Not at all a good value.

We love this place! The atmosphere is amazing; small private dining room with fire place. The service is very personnable, and the food is absolutly delicious. We had the escargot, lobster risotto, pistacchio rack of lamb, crab encrusted grouper and profiterolles, ouhlala
