The American Taekwondo Association is an organization dedicated to the martial arts discipline of taekwondo. The association also founded several international affiliates, including the World Traditional Taekwondo Union and the Songahm Taekwondo Federation. It operates more than 1,500 licensed schools and clubs worldwide. The American Taekwondo Association has a membership in excess of 300,000. Eternal Grand Master Haeng Ung Lee founded the association in 1969 in Omaha, Neb. Eternal Grand Master Lee began his martial arts training in 1954 as a teenager and went on to teach martial arts to Republic of Korea military intelligence personnel. The American Taekwondo Association employs approximately 100 people and is based in Little Rock, Ark.
