Shining Light Reading Series is a not-for-profit corporation providing learning, self-expression and communication tools for children. Based in Little Rock, Ark., it offers a four volume reading series, which begins with 'Learning Letter Sounds', the introduction of the 26 letters of the alphabet; 'Sound-It-Out Words', wherein the children learn to recognize letters and distinguish individual sounds in a word; 'Think-It-Out Words', wherein nonphonetic words and simple stories are taught; and 'Handwriting', which presents step-by-step writing instructions. It also offers other products for beginning readers and parents. Additionally, the firm offers consulting services to schools and other organizations for improving child and adult literacy.
