Greater Friendship Missionary Church, as it is today, evolved from Steele's Memorial Baptist Church, which was established during the 1920s. Steele's Memorial was located in the East End of Little Rock and acquired its name out of respect for a former pastor, the Rev. Jack Steele. From the 1920s to the present day, the church membership has followed the leadership of numerous pastors and has built new facilities on two occasions. The first new construction was completed on East Ninth Street, about five blocks from the original location. In the Spring of 1964, the second construction of new facilities was completed in the heart of the Granite Mountain community. The church remains in this location.
