Provided by YP.comRecently I received a postcard that indicates that the solicitation to sell whole life insurance is underwritten by Transamerica Life Insurance Company with a return address of Little Rock, AR. In my search, I found your address, etc., on line. I have been getting postcards like this from insurance companies for years now. I just want to ask why Transamerica sends reply cards that would ask a person to supply personal information on a postcard for the world to read? I'm nearly certain that this has cost your company, and many other companies, a lot of business, since a lot of people are smarter than to put personal information on an open postcard. Of course, there are people that are not careful with their information and do respond to these requests. Later they may wonder how it happened that they were victims of identity theft. In this day and age, one cannot be too careful.
When talking to my bank, often I'm simply asked my birth date for verification to transact telephone requests, so I know that this information shouldn't be given out casually. I have thought of trying to contact the Postmaster General to see if it is even permissible for a company to ask such information on an open postcard. If it is all right with them, I won't rest until it is no longer allowed.
