The Office of Emergency Management of Arapahoe County in Colorado provides leadership, planning, education and resources to protect lives, property and the environment in the event of a disaster. Emergency Management works with county departments, local governments, volunteer organizations and the private sector to develop disaster preparedness plans and provide training and exercise activities. The sheriff of the county acts as the emergency manager and the sheriff s office offers a community training program known as Community Emergency Response Team to ensure that training and information is available to first responders and the community. Additionally, the Office of Emergency Management offers programs that teach residents how to care for themselves, their families, home, neighbors and community if a large-scale incident should occur and first responders are not available.
