If I could leave negative stars I would. My 5 month old son was going there for about 3 months. In that 3 month period he contracted ring worm twice, RSV, and was assaulted by another infant. Please look up Colorado Shine. They have been cited for having intoxicated staff while watching children, they have also been cited numerous times for unsanitary conditions as well as not background checking there employees. When I posted a review on the facebook page, I was contacted by Haley and she threatened me to take the post down or she would press charges against me for "Harrassment". If I save one child from getting exposed to illnesses, maltreatment, or abuse then posting a review is worth it. PLEASE! Your children's safety should always be a priority. Haley (the daughter of the owner) is so disrespectful towards concerned parents. Please do not leave your children in the care of people who look at your kids as income.

ZERO STARS!

TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT/OWNERSHIP! My husband and I are first time parents and I did my fair share of daycare tours and this place really won me over with the "family" ownership and fake smiles. Their flexibility with my start date was never an issue and they always made me feel like there was no rush to get our daughter started until I was ready. As long as I gave them a 4-6 week notice of when she would start, they were fine! So I put my $75 Non-refundable deposit down plus a week’s work of tuition for her first week to start the process. In the coming months, I was able to have some family help out longer and I made sure to let the staff know. NO PROBLEM! Well, we just found out we have to move and our daughter was anticipated to start in about 6 weeks. I let them know we will no longer be able to attend and understood that my deposit would not be returned.

I spoke with Todd. He was very blunt with me, to a point of being upset that I would even ask for my money back because of the "thousands" of dollars they have had to turn down by holding a place for our daughter. He didn’t have any of his dates right about when I toured, when I put the deposit down, when I spoke to someone, etc. 1st problem, COMMUNITCATION! So why were they so flexible with her start date? He then told me that he "could return the money, but he is choosing NOT to." He talked down to me, interrupted me every time I tried to speak, and literally made me cry on the phone. He has no respect or compassion for a first time mother so I am guessing he is a very unhappy, selfish, greedy man.

Haley, his daughter the Director, was so calm and cool. That is another reason that won me over since I feel I am the same way... but don't let it fool you! Todd her father is behind it all and I am disgusted with his business decisions. Frankly, I am relieved that the skeletons of that place came out before we actually enrolled. I would not trust anyone in that place to care for my daughter more than I could throw them if it is a place being run by TODD.

My husband later called to get some clarification on why we would not get our tuition money back. Todd, again, was completely disrespectful and said that if we wanted to see anything in writing to bring it to his attorney. Nowhere in our contract says we should not get our tuition money back. My husband said he could come by after work to pick up the form I signed to just see that we should not receive it back. Todd's response was, "If you come by, you aren't getting anything!".... he also said in a very rude sarcastic tone to him, "you are now using your daughter as a pawn, great parenting!"

Update: To top this all off, Todd later called my husband after seeing my review and asked that we remove the review and sign some ridiculous document that we would not speak of this any more and remove our post and then he would return the money. It also indicated that he could come back and sue us if we did!!!!! It is worth the money to me to notify people that if you can't trust this many financially to do the right thing, how are you to trust him with your most prized possession, your child??

This is pure principal of doing the right thing. I would not want my daughter to step foot in a terribly run facility. Their values are nothing what I thought and they clearly must be very tight financially if they can't return a new family 300 dollars??? I guess there are still those people that don’t care the cost or the expense at making a quick buck. Very sad to think it is over childcare?!

The communication pass down is terrible. From the beginning it was about the check, the money. Haley who is running the school is young, maybe 23, and comes across as someone who is trying to put on airs of leadership. “I’m a business person!” (noted* there is a lot going on there and a lot to take care of ) And that is what you get, perfunctory hellos, your bill is ready, maybe a quick smile that is quickly put away before someone notices the persona break “I’m a business person” .
The mother and the Father, Todd both work there as well, owners I’m sure. Mom will not look you in the eyes when talking just asks for payment behind the desk. Dad, Todd stays in the back and runs the accounting, they should try to keep him in the back because he is a jerk.

Dislikes-

1. My second bill (which is just a number on the bottom of your kid’s check-in screen) had an unexplained $40 added to it, when I asked why there was an increase I was told by the owner’s wife that it was for summer camp and that they brought things in and did projects that required materials. I said, “Oh ok exciting!” I then asked if there were invoices sent out? I was told by her “no” but that she would mention it to her husband, Todd.
Two weeks later I had the same increase, Todd was behind the desk and I asked him about the increase (this was immediately after I dropped off a white T-shirt for tye-dye day, “guess white t-shirts aren’t included in the $40 increases?”) and he explained that it was for events the following month. When asked if there was a breakdown of what these events are he snorted and exclaimed” You’ve had plenty of chances to read about these events!” Me dumbfounded, “Umm how again?” This conversation digressed to unhealthy points on both of our sides…but what it comes down to is I shouldn’t talk to “staff” (wife) about invoices, I should pay attention to what is going on around me, I shouldn’t question what money additions are added or my daughter will sit in detention while others enjoy events.
Later the next day I was given a pamphlet that explains the summer camp program that would probably have avoided my even questioning a $40 increase. As we were new to the school we missed the message that had obviously gone out at some point. Anyway left a very bad taste in my mouth.
2. Kids are crying every time I do pickups. I noticed this when I first dropped off and was a little worried, should have trusted gut. It was not like this at our last school.

3. Almost every day there is one kid or another in detention behind the desk when I go to pick up. He/she is normally crying or sitting head down while staff works around him/her. I haven’t been in enough schools to know if this is normal but I don’t like it and would flip if it was my kid.

4. The smell, why does it smell like that? I just went and looked at a few schools (much better, cleaner, and priced the same) that don’t have that smell.

5. I was there for 4 weeks before I found out that every Friday was show in tell day and that my daughter hadn’t been bringing anything. How did I miss this?

6. I was there two weeks before my access code was activated to the door. “Knock Knock, here we are again.” “Oh sorry, I will make sure to definitely get that turned on today, it is tricky for us” oh something shiny…

7. No email communication, no print outs, no explanations, no social media… Really no email! If you don’t see it on the random messenger on the check-in screen you don’t get it.

This is an expensive school and it is not well run. There are plenty of schools (kicking myself, plenty) in the immediate areas that are better and similarly priced. Heck, Highlands Ranch Learning Center has a pool and a professional cook for a similar price! This school makes me cringe. Don’t settle.

We have had an outstanding experience at Small World! My daughter is 21 months and my son is 7 months, both of which have attended Small World since three months of age. The director and teachers are kind and approachable. They foster real communication with me as a parent and make it so easy to ask questions! The staff is so loving and gentle. They truly care for my kids! I can absolutely tell how much fun my children have going to school. I see every day how special they make them feel and how much they have learned!

This place is incredible!!

My son has been there almost 4 years now and there is no where else I would trust leaving my son!!

They strive in safety, care, and education!! My son is far beyond his age milestones and it is because of this facility!!

To the people whom had trouble with payments, any daycare you sign up for is holding your spot. Just like when you pay a cancellation fee at a doctors office because they reserved that time for you.

They are a family owned business, so when they 'hold your spot' they're assuming your child is going to be a part of this amazing group. You're going to get a lot more individualized attention compared to a nationwide place..

I looked everywhere when looking for a place for my son and Small World Learning Center is by far the best!!

HORRIBLE DAYCARE! In the months that my children attended at least 5 people worked their and quit. Odiously their is a reason they can't keep employees. When I first started going I really liked the center then I noticed the employees dropping like flies, the only ones who stayed were young girls who seem too inexperienced to know what they are doing. They started treating me and my children TERRIBLE! On top of that they did something's that are not safe or acceptable when involving children. One example is when I picked up my (At the time 8 month old) son one day and his clothes were completely covered in BLEACH stains!!! When i asked what happened all I received was an apology and was told it was an accident. I was also told that i would be given a gift card to replace the clothing, however that never happened. Also, how is my sons clothes getting covered in BLEACH an accident? I would like to think that the daycare is using precautions that would prevent children from being in contact with harsh chemicals. This place is a horrific they treat the children terribly when the parents aren't around, according to my (At the time 2 year old son). According to the staff they never treated my son terribly, however being a mother i chose to believe my sons statement over the staffs statements. The owner Todd is one of the rudest human beings i have ever encountered. I'm waiting for the day that I hear this place is shut down. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE!! Their are a few other day cares very close to this one with the same prices and they treat the children right. It has been over 6 months since my children have attended and i have to say they are much happier now after leaving that terrible place. I have decided to reach out an write my review after so long due to guilty thoughts of others having a similar experience as me and my children.

My 10 month old is always excited to see his friends in his class. The staff genuinely care for each child and it shows in the children's self confidence, joyful smiles and happy attitudes.

We chose this center because of its location and reasonable prices. Since enrolling our daughter we have come to know the staff and find them to be very loving and attentive. Each day I have a peace of mind when I get both verbal and written feedback on how the day went. I know that my daughter is being loved and well cared for, getting the personal attention she needs.

My almost 2 year old has been attending Small World Learning Center for only 3 months and his vocabulary has JUMPED!! His doctor was concerned he was delayed in speech and now, he is saying new words everyday and trying to say new words as well! I couldn't be more thrilled my son is in great care, making friends and learning every day. Thank you.

I began taking my child to Small World Learning center about 3 months ago. I was very uneasy about making this move, because my child had been with his child care for a very long time. I must say, this has been one of the best choices I have made for my child. He has made quite a few best friends & even LOVES his teacher Ms. Hailey, He speaks about her often. The children as well as the staff are extremely respectful. I couldn't have asked for a better provider. Thank you for all your grate work!!

I dreaded putting my daughters in daycare for the first time, but the staff at Small World Learning Center keep my mind at ease. The staff is friendly and communicate with the parents well. Plus there's free coffee! We've been going here for 4 months now and my daughters absolutely love it. They even ask to go on the weekends!
