zero stars. Split rail fence co damaged my house during construction of the fence and refused to fix it.

they illegaly tresspassed on my property, entering my gated yard several times with out permission.

they are unethical and the worst contractor I have ever delt with.use them at your own risk.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced.... EVER! Although the company is cheaper than some other companies, you should really consider how much time, effort and frustration you are willing to put up with when getting your fence completed. It took me four month of frustration and prodding to get my fence complete. I would sooner build my own fence than work with this company again.



I called Split Rail to put up a simple 6ft wood fence in my backyard. They came out for the estimate and we showed them a stump in the fence line that they would have to build the fence around. They assured us that it was no problem. When the crew finally (weeks later) showed up to install the fence they had no idea what to do with the stump so they just left a giant 4 foot gap in our fence around the stump.



The next week they sent a crew out to complete the fence around the stump. The crew literally nailed some boards in all different directions around the stump. It looked so horrific that I called the company back out to fix it, as well as about 10 boards that were already warping and the latch in the gate that was already broken.



It took MONTHS of prodding, calling and refusing to pay their bill to get them to come out and fix the stump and all of the warped boards. After two times of showing up without the appropriate boards or equipment to complete the job, they finally fixed their mistakes. However, when they came to fix the fence, they didn’t call us to get permission to come into the yard, let alone inform us that they were coming at all. They broke into the back yard (which was locked with my dog out there) and finally fixed the fence. I had no idea they had even been at my house until later when I checked the fence myself and noticed the boards had been replaced. The company hadn’t even notified me that the job had been done.



I spoke with the sales manager and the general manager. The sales manager was vaguely helpful. The owner was rude and completely un-invested in cooperating with a customer. He was barely apologetic that his crew had broken into my backyard. They offered no compensation for the horrible service I had received, let alone a sincere apology. Please, spare yourself the hassle of dealing with this company. Put your money toward a fence company that can actually provide a satisfying service.
