I am a new amputee, and made an appointment with Promis in Littleton, N.H. I am a below the knee amputee due to a motor vehicle accident. I also have 2 skin grafts on my residual leg. I met with the prosthetist, Bob Sheppard, on a Monday. He told me to wear the shrinker 24 hours per day, except during showering. My skin grafts began to get bright red marks around the edges. I sent Promis a message with photo attached, and called 2 times on Wednesday. No return call. I called again on Thursday. No return call. I called 2 more times on Friday, and finally was told by Bob that I would have to see my skin graft doctor because it was above his pay grade to figure out what had happened. My skin graft doctor said Bob NEVER should have had me wear the shrinker for 24 hours with no breaks to start. He had me do 1/2 hour on/1/2 hour off to start. Also, when I went in to the private room to have my first meeting with Bob, there was a pile of old prosthetic pieces piled up along one wall: a dirty rubber foot; a dirty flesh-colored leg; a pylon, and some sockets. It was quite a turn off to see old prostheses parts littering the room. If you need a prosthesis, I do NOT recommend Promis. I scheduled another appointment with a different prosthetist in Auburn, Maine. It's twice the travel distance, but well worth the extra time to get there. Promis was a complete disaster for me.
