The temperature outside was way below freezing when I walked up to the church office. I was very cold, hungry, scared, and needed help badly. I had no one else to turn to. I was stranded and needed help to get back home and the closest Greyhound is 25 miles away. If I could not get help that way I could understand, but I certainly never expected to be treated as I was in the church office. The lady I spoke with was cold and uncaring. She looked at me and talked to me as if I were a nasty bug to get rid of. Not even an offer for food or prayer. A man come out of an office behind her, stood beside her as I told my story, and the entire time looked at me as if I were the lowest of the low. It was bad to be in my situation as it was, and my treatment that cold morning at Westwood Baptist Church only made me feel worse. Where did the compassion go? It certainly wasn't in that church office,

Things had changed since I went to that Church as a kid. It was a terrible experience.
