Provided by YP.comI had been looking for someone to jack up my garage this summer, and I found Mr. Norton via my dad's girlfriend. I had gotten many different quotes all over the map, so Norton's quote of $5,000.00 seemed on par with the requirements of the job. Overall I am pleased with the result of the work -- BUT -- I found two glaring errors (the sill plate was cut three inches too short on both the right and left hand side of the rear of the garage -- this is so bad that the sill plate does not cover the concrete block underneath it (so it is structurally unsound). He said he knew about the error during the job, but failed to do it right. When I brought it up as "something he needed to take care of before I paid him the final payment" Mr. Norton literally lost his mind. He was nasty, insulting, rude, and flat out REFUSED to repair the sill plates that are three inches too short. Norton made wild accusations of my character and integrity (mind you I don't know him really from Adam -- nor does he know of me more than as a customer.)
So now I am left with the job of removing this sill plate and cutting a new piece of lumber (really defeating the purpose of hiring a contractor in the first place). Had Roy been cool about the problem and happy to fix it I would have had other jobs for him to do -- but the fact that he was rude and refused to do the job right -- he will never get a referral from me. Heck, maybe he's just so great and busy that he does not need referrals (doubt it in this day and age!)
If you hire this man, you must watch him like a hawk. He will cut corners and try to tell you it is fine (actually he takes it as a personal offense if you question the quality of his work). Frankly this man owes me a big apology for being so rude and insulting -- he also owes one to my dad and his girlfriend. Actually, at 70 years of age, Roy Norton might want to start thinking about retirement -- his customer service skills are totally lacking.
