Wonderful

Dr Zhang is one of the best doctors I have ever been to. And no she doesn't hand out pain meds to those who seek them immediately ( like those who wrote the other reviews).. She is a pharmacologist and knows her medicine extremely well. Never judge a book by its cover. I am a patient for many years.

Will never go back.

I scheduled an appointment with neurologist Dr. Zhang hoping to find an answer to why I have suffered from seizures and debilitating chronic pain for the past 5 years.

When we walked in her office we were shocked to find a dirty and cluttered waiting room (a poster actually fell of the wall when we were waiting). Apparently she did not care about privacy as we could hear every word that was said in the appointment before ours as we waited across the hall.

But all this wouldn't matter a bit if she would be willing to help me.

After an EMG and NCV, Dr Zhang told me I had peripheral neuropathy and multifocal motor neuropathy which is causing muscle atrophy. She tested me

She listed off a number of possible causes including genetic and autoimmune diseases and sent me to do some preliminary blood work. She seemed to be listening when my husband discussed how the medications I took were not helping as I was in bed 90% of the time from severe pain. She seemed like she was going to help me figure out the cause of my illness.

My husband and I came back several weeks later to discuss the lab results and the next step. She told me that she ruled out the top few Curable causes of peripheral and motor neuropathy and simply told me to increase my medications and added on 3 more!

She didn't even test for the conditions she mentioned I might have in our first appointment! It was like i was talking to a completely different doctor! We tried to tell her that we didn't feel comfortable taking so many medications without knowing what was causing my symptoms. I am 30 years old and just want to be well enough to go back to work.

She told me that there are hundreds of causes for peripheral and motor neuropathy. She said its not worth it to continue testing because it will most likely be incurable and the end result will be the same- pain and muscle loss.  We asked her if she could search a little deeper for the cause and she mocked me for "wanting to be labeled"!

She was definitely annoyed that we wanted to try a little harder to figure out my illness and made my husband and I choose the next test without even suggesting anything!

If I was 80 years old I would maybe agree with her that I should just try to be comfortable. But I am 29 years old and want more than anything to have a family some day. I would not be able to do this with all the medications

she is suggesting I take. Even most incurable diseases have treatment options.

I have never had a doctor mock me for wanting a few tests that could change my life. My husband and I will never go back to this doctor.
