I've been buying "team wear" from Mike for years. Always quoted the best price. Never had an issue with any of the apparel!!! McGowan's are the best!!

I have always had a great experience with my purchases at McGowans.

My family has been buying hockey skates and sporting goods from McGowans for years. His prices are fair and the customer service is excellent. I took my son in to buy skates one year, and he was able to stretch the boot of the skate to allow one more spring hockey season before I had to buy new skates. I live 30 minutes away from his store and I will pass by many sporting goods store near me to goto McGowan's.

MCGOWAN SPORT SHOP store gets ZERO stars. I had to give at least one star to complete this review. I brought in my daugters' cheerleading jacket to have the lettering redone since it is falling off and the owner (old man with glasses) told me 'they' will not fix the one daughter's jacket and I said what are you talking about, the lettering is falling off and he replied 'Ease off buddy" in a very threatening manner (followed by 3 seconds of staring me down) and I said that is lousy customer service and he threw the jackets at me and loudly told me to get the hell out of his store. This owner's behavior showed me he is hostile and is ready to explode violently on an unwitting customer. After sharing this story with other parents at my daughters' school they too said he is quite unstable and to not visit his store. If you need any type of lettering, varsity jackets, trophies, etc. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS STORE, YOU WILL BE SORRY. I do not know how he has been in business for 47 years (his quote) with this type of attitude and customer service. There are plenty of other stores out there with cheaper costs, better equipment, and more importanty, better customer service.

I ordered my varsity jacket from this store last week and came in to pick it up yesterday. At the time when I ordered it, I felt very pressured by the owner of the shop to get the jacket in a larger size than what I felt fit best. I did not think it was what I wanted but the owner assured me that he knew better. When I went in yesterday to pick it up, I put the jacket on and saw that it was, in fact, huge. It was too long on my body, the sleeves were at least four inches too long and the shoulders were huge. Already being 16, I'm not going to "grow into it." Not wanting to disappoint my 80-year-old grandmother who was with me, I didn't say anything and simply called later to see if there was anything I could do about it. The same man rudely told me that he would not exchange it and my only option was to buy an entirely new jacket. I then asked if I could receive a discount for buying a new one, as I had no use for my current one. He rudely said "Why would I do that?" Now I am stuck with a jacket that I hate because it is huge on me and will wear as little as possible. I was extremely disappointed by McGowan's products and costumer service and will advise all my friends to take their business elsewhere.
