Welcome to Mt. Hope. Even though you are only visiting today in cyberspace, we hope you will enjoy your time with us. Mt. Hope is, in my opinion, a truly great church. We're not the biggest in town (nor the smallest) but the warmth and welcome and inspiration visitors receive from Mt. Hope and our people can't be beat. We work very hard to make Mt. Hope a church where the entire family is ministered to. We have classes and study groups and youth activities and nurseries and fellowship groups? And if there isn't something that meets your need, we invite you to join us and work on putting something together with us that does. Congregational churches are just a bit unique in the church world. We are what is called a "covenantal" church instead of "creedal." That means that, whereas most churches have a specific statement of doctrine that members adhere to, we don't. We have a covenant instead. We covenant (make a deal) with one another to continue to seek God's truth through the scriptures, acknowledging that what one person understands that to be and what another understands may well not be the same thing. We simply come to worship together - loving God - not having to believe exactly the same.
