Mediocre At Best

This place is greatly overrated. The sweet and sour chicken is bland and dry. Give me a smaller place without the statues anytime.

This Place is the Whip

My reviews can be brutal, but if you call yourself a professional restaurateur or chef, by all means you should be one. PF Chang's might not be "authentic" Chinese food, but I'm here to tell you that it sure is incredibly good. Pay attention to the other reviewers' advice on the lettuce wraps and Mongolian Beef...it's not a matter of taste, it's a Truth of the Universe, whether you are in the Year of the Dog, Monkey, Rat or Tiger.

The person who hires the wait staff is very smart....because they hire wait staff who are very smart...and nice, and good with people. What a concept. Someone has to be; I am told that I'm not (nice, that is), but I'm not waiting tables just yet. Wait...I will apply to PF Chang's after I walk my own Road to Damascus. Or just be who I am and get a waitstaff job at Red Mobster down there in Brightmoor.

Yes, prices aren't the lowest at PF Chang, but be assured that you are not eating Morris the Cat or whatever the heck it was that I sort of ate (nibbled?) after cooking it myself over a spirit flame over there at Ah Wok in Novi. Like I said in that other scathing review (look for it), it took awhile for my appetite to find its way home. But I digress.

Yes, at PF Chang's you should absolutely make a dinner reservation unless you want to wait with the cattle...forever. Thank them for actually taking them, because most bigger joints are sick of getting stiffed by Philistines who don't have the courtesy to phone in their cancellations.

Tip, often and at the minimum rate of 20 percent and far above, for these kids deserve it most every time. They are very nice (sometimes even witty!) and generally very efficient and attentive. If they aren't up to your expectations, something Very Bad has likely happened in the back and beyond their control, or more likely, you have even more personality disorder issues than I do. If you are a prima-donna food sender-backer, you likely deserve every ounce of spittle you ingest, not that they would ever do such a thing, just a general observation of the food-service industry. I never complain until I get behind the keyboard...and then, oh, sweet revenge.

Yes, I do not lavish praise lightly. PF Chang's in Northville deserves every little gold star they get, and five of them is what I suggest. I don't even like Chinese food very much, but I eat beyond the point of satiation every time I go there. You cannot go wrong, so get on over there right away. Tell them "Midnight " sent you...and get a quizzical look in return. I plan to review more of the places I've dined, and there are many of them, so stay tuned.

Your pal, "Midnight"

OOh I love Chang's!

I love Chang's Spicy Chicken. I love the noodles. I love the Lemon Chicken. I love the service, and I crave the flavors. If you've never been there, don't deny yourself any more. They are more expensive than the typical Chinese restaurant, but they're worth it!
