Los Angeles Universal Preschool, also known as (LAUP), is an independent public benefit corporation and nonprofit organization that was founded in 2004 and was funded by First 5 LA. It is guided by a master plan developed by educators, parents, government officials, and business and community leaders. The school serves more than 100,000 children. Los Angeles Universal Preschool works in partnerships with various preschools to develop model practices for children with special needs and disabilities. It also works with private, public and charter schools. The school funds over 100 licensed preschool centers throughout the United States. Los Angeles Universal Preschool additionally has partnership with the Covina-Valley Unified School District.
