The Los Angeles Police Department is one of the largest and most innovative law enforcement agencies in the world. A Board of Police Commissioners oversees all operations of the LAPD. The Northeast Community Police Station is under the jurisdiction of the department s central bureau. It serves the communities of Atwater, Cypress Park, Eagle Rock, East Hollywood, Echo Park, Elysian Park, Elysian Valley, Glassell Park, Griffith Park, Highland Park, Los Feliz, Mount Washington and Silverlake, Calif. The northeast area is nearly 30 square miles and has a population of about 250,000 people.
