Be sure to look through the book to make all the pages are there.
The dictionary I bought was missing half the words beginning with the letter A.

I have shopped at Half Price B...

I have shopped at Half Price Books since they opened here a few years ago, and yes, there are goodies to be found there....SOMETIMES. But beware, what may seem like a bargain price is not, if you pay attention to how much things are elsewhere. I used to think this place was great until I realized that their prices on used stuff can be more than what one could get the same thing for new. And their prices are pretty steep on things that are so scratched up they should be in a bargain bin. I sold a DVD there recently that I got at Walmart for $10, and when browsing the next time I was at the store I saw it on the shelf priced for about $2.50 more than Walmart sold it new for. I don't know if this pricing is out of sheer ignorance or if they just hope that people aren't smart shoppers, but since their selection seems pretty poor as of late, I'm not giving them my business much anymore.

Definitely not the place to se...

Definitely not the place to sell books--especially if you have a good collection, you know, something more than trash papebacks. Tried to sell some of better history books but the clerks looking over the material had no idea what they were looking at and the offer was insulting.

Great Deals

I can't speak to the previous review as I've never tried to sell them anything. They do have to resell whatever you bring in, so I don't see how anyone could expect to get too much for their merchandise. (Isn't that what Craigslist is for?) Anyway, I go here about once a month and hit the clearance CD rack. Usually I end up with 12-15 CDs for about $20. I'll also hit the magazine section before I take a long drive or flight somewhere. Grab a magazine for $.50 that's a couple months old vs. a new one that's on the rack for $5. Maybe you just need to go there to buy? Either way, this place works for me.

They Offered Me $2 for an Entire Box of Good Books

Took in several boxes of really good hardback science fiction--most of them first editions--and the guy at the counter offered me $2 a box. Didn't even bother to ask if they were first editions or check their condition. Ridiculous. If that's the kind of con-job they pull on other people, I feel sorry for the victims.
