Provided by YP.comI was ready to sell my 108 year old house in the Highlands. After replacing the windows, blowing insulation into the walls and getting a new AC and Furnace when I moved in eight years ago, I thought there was nothing more I could do to get my house warm in the winter, cool in the summer and get my LG&E bills below $400 a month! I have a business I run out of my house and it was embarrassing when my clients would come over that my living room and kitchen were always freezing and I ended up hiding in my small office all winter long.
Then I called John Waters and they sent out Mike Becht (the Comfort Consultant) came out and he was great. He has an instant air of competence and down-to-earthness that made me trust him immediately. Then he told me what no one else had: Apparently 100 years ago, builders built the heating systems backwards (something about returns on the outside and registers on the inside walls). Eventually builders figured it out, but my house was going to need some new ducts.
Of course he measured EVERYTHING - the windows, the doors, the ceilings - and he got down in the cellar and up in the attic to measure insulation. He asked me all kinds of questions and then ran some kind of heat loss thing and told me that my first floor furnace was a little undersized (but he recommended NOT changing it) and the 30 year old furnace in my attic needed replacing. I ASKED him to change over one of my 8 year old inefficient AC units to a Heat Pump because I am all about being green and I knew I could save money. He also recommended a humidifier (for ~500) and that has made ALL the difference.
The whole duct things scared me, but that wasn't expensive at all and it changed everything. We added three new registers and partially closed the giant one in my interior bathroom and it was like MAGIC! Before I would set the thermostat to 71 or 72 and the furnace would blow dry air constantly to get it tolerably warm in the living room, but it would be HOT in my office. Now, I set the thermostat to 67 and it's comfortable everywhere. The humidifier makes it feel like its 69 or 70 and the new ducts work like a dream! Oh and did I mention my new LG&E bills are a fraction of what they used to be!!
Mike was indeed a Comfort Consultant and I love my house now. Kevin (the installer) was incredibly professional (laying down tarps and wearing booties), too. I had one little problem because I wanted to keep my existing thermostat, but they fixed it right away at no cost. I love my house 12 months a year now and I am their biggest fan!!!

Provided by YP.comI first contacted John Waters a year ago when my A/C needed servicing. It was no emergency, but the repair man came at 7:00 pm and stayed until well after dark. He made my repair in a very short time, so he stayed around longer to perform some other helpful maintenance (and no, he did not gouge me for the extra service). My wife and I were pleasantly surprised when we saw the bill. He was an impressive representative of the company, and I knew I would call again.
My most recent experience started when my furnance "burned up". It could be "fixed", but the repairs would be costly and the unit was 18 years old. The repair-man was extremely helpful in walking me through my options, which led me to purchase an new system. Mike, the salesmen, worked with me and explained my options. He just told me honestly what I'd be getting for the money I wanted to spend and never put any pressure on me to purchase more than I needed. He spent two hours at my house calculating my needs and reviewing the results with me.
After agreeing to have the system installed, a pipe burst between the floors near the furnace closet. Mike and Kevin, the installer, worked with me and my plumber to get repairs done and old equipment removed so that my install would go on time. Mike and Kevin bent over backwards to help me (and my family), so that this wouldn't be any more stressful than it was.
I can say without reservation that my experience with John Waters has never been anything but pleasant. Their sales staff and their installation staff worked with me to make the process easy and accommodating. The are friendly, honest, and hard-working. They have earned my trust and I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you to Mike and Kevin - thank you for your hard work at a time when we needed it most!
