Louisville Property Maintenance is a division of the Department of Inspections, Permits and Licenses. It enforces the property maintenance code that details the responsibilities of property owners and regulations regarding the maintenance of property, such as occupied and vacant properties, vacant lots and abandoned vehicles. The division s property maintenance code establishes a minimum maintenance standards for elements, such as basic equipment, light, ventilation, heating, sanitation and fire safety. It also regulates the use of existing structures and premises. The Department of Inspections, Permits and Licenses issues permits and performs inspections for property and business owners and contractors who own properties, build new constructions and renovate older buildings.
