Provided by YP.comService wasn't the best when I called. However, I went ahead and ordered a total of 55.00 worth of food. The ribs were great no complaints. The sides YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! So nasty I end up throwing everything away but the ribs. The prices that are online are totally different than the actually price. " I will eat there again only for the ribs " Nothing else I give a --0 for the customer service. Especially when answering the phone and talking to a million other people. Oh I forgot about the corn it was good.

Provided by YP.comI've had quite a lot of barbecue in my 40 years and thought the Ol' Hickory Pit would be a welcomed stop on my list of such restaurants, given that they're reportedly of the Western Kentucky/Paducah style of 'que. Unfortunately, it left much to be desired. Not saying its awful, because its not. Its just.. well.. leaves a lot to the imagination and palate.
Deep fried corn on the cob sounds more carnival fair fare than it does good down home barbecue for starters, and the coating of grease thats left behind in your mouth helps to define that. The mutton isn't bad and may be the best choice. Ribs have been on the dry side consistently, which may in fact be the style from the western half of Kentucky. Personally, I prefer some moisture inside of ribs. A dry-rub slab of ribs can still be moist and tender from a smoker/convection grill. Not much meat to speak of per rib either. I almost felt as if the ribs might have been from another animal other than a pig.
Chicken isn't too bad, but I believe it too seen the same treadmill the rib animal did. One thing that I do enjoy is the beans 'n cornbread. Hard to mess such a dish up, so its a safe bet.
Staff at the Old Shepherdsville Road location are usually friendly, but the ones at the Flea Market are a different story. That could be a age factor issue tho.
Not sure if the pricing is the same or not at both locations (since I sadly don't frequent that much any longer), but the Flea Market location is a bit more pricey for the value of the meal. Refills shouldn't be the same price as a single order of beverage either, especially in styrofoam cups, filled half to three-quarters full of ice and well over a dollar. This is a restaurant snafu if ever there is one. The Flea Market location also charges a 'restaurant tax' in addition to sales tax. This tax hasn't been imposed on a restaurant in ages in the state. I've never seen this additional tax listed at the Old Shepherdsville Road location.
So, would I recommend Ol' Hickory Pit? Sure, to each their own. Some might like it, others may have a different story. This one is mine.

Provided by YP.comI like the fried cornbread best here. The pulled pork is pretty good.
