$2,300 Bandage... I chopped off the side/tip of my left index finger while chopping firewood. Drove my self to the McKee ER, presented my insurance card and was admitted. A young doctor came in, and looked at the finger--literally just looked--he asked if I was right or left handed, then called for an x-ray to see if I had nicked the bone. I had not so he recommended no treatment at the time but that I see a hand specialist. A tech then cleaned & bandaged the finger, & gave me some pain meds. Charge for him LOOKING at my finger, an x-ray, & a bandage? --Pharmacy: $13 --X-Ray: $248 --Physician: $291 --Emergency Room: $1,651 TOTAL: Over $2,203 !! I was there for an hour & walked out with a bandage. That is $2,300? It is at Mckee. Turns out Banner Health is not in my insurance network, so no coverage. If the person who registered me and took a copy of my insurance card had mentioned that fact I would not have gone in!
