Provided by YP.comTalent Plus Preschool Dance and Tumbling classes are poorly run on so many levels it hard to know where to start. The staff are reasonably polite if you stay out of the way, but their interaction with the children is distant at best and too sharp to be age appropriate when they do both to speak to them individually. From what I saw during parent nights, when parents were allowed to come in and watch a class, the little 4 year old girl with downs syndrom in the class was no exception for their very clever sarcasm and snippy comments they made to the little girls who failed to be little military soldiers for them.
They cram too many kids into one class will too few teachers and then spend most of the time with them in a line of 15-10 little kids waiting their turn to skip or somersault across the floor, 1 at a time. Even at that the children get no individual notice because there are just too many to allow for that.
There are soundless monitors in the waiting area so you can watch your children, but they only cover half the room so you only see half of the class. I think they are mainly for show.
My daughter was very bubbly and cheerful and enjoyed her dance lessons before moving and starting at talent plus but she quickly lost her interest in dance and tumbling until I pulled her out and started her taking lessons at another facility.
And of course you certainly won't catch me in a bikini, but the two teachers were overweight to obese so I'm not sure why they were teaching ballet and tumbling when they clearly were physically incapable of either, again I'm not claiming I would be any better, but I'm not trying to teach. All they did the whole time was to play a record that was very hard to hear as it sounded to have been recorded in the 1950-60s and stand in front of the children and gesture, with scowls on their faces.
One of the teachers was a little better than the other, but the teaching techniques were simply not productive and you just can't have that many children that young in one class and expect to give them much of an experience.
There are plently of places that charge less for more in Lubbock, even the community centers' $15 10 week session outshines this on a bad day.
Overall Talent plus preschool programs do not motivate children, they discourage them, and while little girls will get excited over ballet there are much better options that will nourish that desire in a much more tender way than this place.
