Thacker Jewelry was founded in 1979 in the small West Texas town of Roaring Springs. I Graduated from Texas Tech University in 1971 with a bachelors and masters degree in mechanical engineering, I moved to Albuquerque New Mexico in late 1972 and after working with some Indians there I went into the Indian jewelry business in 1973. This business grew into a major manufacturing facility in a very short time and employed up to 125 people at one time. I sold the business to a competitor in 1977 bought a sailboat and went to sea for 18 months. In 1979 I returned to my roots in Roaring Springs and opened Thacker Jewelry, initially it was a wholesale operation buying from manufactures and selling to retailers in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. But as time went on the operation expanded into manufacturing and wholesaling throughout the United States. As the jewelry industry went through a restructuring all across the United States most manufactures moved overseas to take advantage of cheaper labor rates. However, at Thacker Jewelry we continue to manufacture the majority of the jewelry we sell in Roaring Springs. From using classically trained master jewelers to the latest technology of laser welders and computer aided design and manufacturing ; Thacker Jewelry strives to bring you the best quality and highest degree of workmanship possible at the best price.
