Don't go if you care how long dog waits to be started & looks after the groom

I made an appointment nearly a week ahead and when I got there with my long haired Yorkie Pom puppy, I was surprised they couldn't tell me about when he'd be ready. I had keep pressing to get a an estimate of 4 hrs from then. It was my day off, so it wasn't my plan to drop him off for day. When I expressed my concern for my puppy unnecessarily being leashed in a cubby, I was made to feel ridiculous. It's not a car. I don't take my dog everywhere, but if they were clear that it was a drop off service, I could've picked a day I'd be at work and he'd be crated anyway. I only went to one place before and they took him on his scheduled time & I picked him up in an hour. I understand some places don't operate that way, but then they shouldn't really be scheduling appointments. What really turned me off was while I'm telling guy at front desk I am uncomfortable about the appointment time taking 4 hrs trying to bargain by coming back closer to when puppy would be started- the groomer girl pauses grooming the dog she's working on to text for a minute. The buzzer in one hand, not on dog luckily, phone in other. SO unprofessional! Here I am debating about leaving my dog there for how long it'd take to get to him & the only groomer is texting while "Chewy" had to wait patiently. The hospitality & people skills gave me a bad vibe I should've listened to. I figured since while the dogs sitting there looked bored, they didn't seem unhappy or raggedy, I'd trust that being a new customer & that I said I was looking for a regular groomer that they might do a good job even if the wait was long. I showed pics of similar dogs that I didn't want his cut to look like &showed pics of him with how I'd like his hair to be trimmed. I was specific in where I wanted cut short & what I wanted left long. They assured me they only buzz if they have to around a bad knot. He came back with what I can only describe as an upside down mullet! What I wanted short, they didn't clean up enough, what I wanted kept long (head) they chopped off! I comb him frequently, they were just being lazy or trying to rush by buzzing supposed knots. They are in profession of combing & bathing animals. If their excuse is they don't want to "torture" dog by combing out a knot (what I was told after complaining about length of his finished coat) they should invest in learning how to be gentle enough that combing isn't torture. That's your job.
