If you have no health insurance and are forced to use a state run facility, I DO NOT recommend you go to this facility if you are having a baby. Go to Fairfax. Stay out of lynchburg completely. My wife had a lot of health problems before we went here, and had all of her records with us. The doctors were not supportive of an elective C-section and assigned us a midwife (Nancy Prothero) who was one of the coldest and negligent people we have ever encountered. My wife was high risk, and not once did the midwife feel that calling the doctor to make the medical decisions was necessary. My wife was pre-eclamsic and had bulging discs in her back that were at high risk of rupturing if she was forced into a natural child birth. Which was exactly what happened. She walked away from the delivery with nerve damage and post traumatic stress syndrome. The delivery was a 12 hour nightmare that has left us terrified of having another child. My wife is in therapy, has to be on medication for nerve damage, and we are expecting another child. We are going to be speaking with multiple lawyers next week to discuss a malpractice case against the midwife and the staff for their actions and we hope that the outcome will result in other families who are in need of prenatal care, do not have to experience what we went through. We didnt have insurance and the midwife would rather collect a paycheck on a natural birth than to call the doctor and have the proper medical care given. And if we get our way.....she will never deliver another baby again. Use this clinic at your own risk. These people pretend to care, but really what it comes down too is you being another number. If they dont get the natural birth, they dont get paid. My wife and I firmly believe that if she didnt push my son out at the time she did, when she was only 7cm dilated, my son would have suffered major health problems including brain damage.
