The Lyons Police Department is comprised of commanders, sergeants, patrol officers, communication operators and crossing guards. The department s record division is responsible for the processing and filing of paperwork generated by the police department and outside agencies. It maintains an administrative division that is responsible for parking and traffic citations, building and equipment maintenance, and evidence and property controls. Te department also operates a communication division that monitors more than five police and fire radio bands and answers regular phone and emergency lines. In addition, it teaches citizens crime prevention techniques and offers training that emphasizes the importance of recognizing suspicious activities.
