Ralston Elementary School, constructed in 1959, is a learning center that serves approximately 475 students in first through sixth grades. It organizes a variety of cocurricular activities, including Four Square Writing, guided reading, spelling bee competitions, accelerated reader and reading recovery programs. The school also operates a literary society that supports spelling, reading and English contests. Ralston Elementary School s staff includes art professionals, physical education instructors, reading specialists, social workers, psychologists, special educators and speech therapists. In addition, it provides meals, transportation and health care services to the students. Ralston Elementary School is a part of Harlem School District 122 and is located in Machesney Park, Ill.
