Opened in 1986, Rose M. Gaffney Elementary School has an annual enrollment of more than 300 students in prekindergarten through eighth grade. It conducts special classes in music and visual and fine arts. Rose M. Gaffney Elementary School maintains a parent-teacher association that provides support and assistance to the school by organizing various fundraising events and activities, In addition the school offers scholarships to students. The school organizes an after-school program that offers assistance to students in completing homework assignments and increasing student performance related to study habits, attendance and behavior. Located in Machias, Maine, Rose M. Gaffney Elementary School also supports Project REACH, which is an intervention and transition program for seven- and eight-grade students.
