Chippewa Valley SchoolsAs one of Michigan's fastest growing school districts, Chippewa Valley serves more than 16, 200 students in grades K-12. Chippewa Valley School district has won several National, State and County awards and is recognized as a leader in the educational community. Our students continue to rank in the top percentile on MEAP scores in Macomb County. Ninety-four percent of students graduate from Chippewa Valley Schools.Chippewa Valley offers a full range of programs in Career and Technical Education ( CTE ) including courses in Automotive Technology, Business & Information Technology Services, Construction Trades, Design Technology, Graphic Design, Hospitality & Culinary Arts, Life Skills, Marketing, Medical Careers and Woodworking & Cabinetmaking.In the spring of 2004, Chippewa Valley High School was awarded the prestigious Michigan Exemplary School Blue Ribbon designation.In addition to a comprehensive academic program, Chippewa Valley offers a variety of co-curricular activities for its students. From school sponsored clubs to athletic teams students have an opportunity to master new skills, develop their creativity, participate in leadership exercises, and learn the value of teamwork.Special services for studentsChippewa Valley Schools provides a full-range of educational programs for academically and physically challenged students in compliance with State and Federal laws. These services are provided to qualified individuals residing within our school district. Types of services provided through Special Services vary for each child and are customized to the student's individual needs.The Chippewa Valley Schools community takes pride in its top-notch facilities and outstanding educational programs. This is evident in the high level of parent involvement and community support the district receives from its residents. In December of 2004, voters overwhelmingly approved a $168 million dollar Bond Proposal to build a new elementary school, a new middle school, and two 9th Grade Freshman Centers on each high school campus, as well as adding classrooms on two existing middle schools. In February of 2001, voters approved a $104 million dollar Bond Proposal to build a new elementary school, add classrooms at Fox and Mohawk Elementary Schools, remodel older school buildings, add a new pool at Chippewa Valley High School, a football stadium at Dakota High School, and more than $24 million for instructional technology. In 1997, voters approved an $83.4 million Bond Issue to build Cheyenne Elementary School, improve existing buildings, and provide $18 million for the implementation of technology. As a result of these bond improvements we offer a 4-to-1 student/ computer ratio and all of our schools enjoy state-of-the art media centers, wireless laptop stations, computer labs and distance-learning labs. A wide area network ( WAN ) provides communication between school buildings and students and teachers have access to the Internet.Chippewa Valley Schools Community Education offers something for everyone" Each year more than 6, 000 students take part in preschool classes, an extended day preschool program, youth enrichment classes, adult enrichment, fitness training, GED classes, trips and tours. The Chippewa Valley Coalition for Youth and Families is a partnership between our school district, parents, and local community service agencies.
