Established in 1911, the Georgia Department of Labor works towards industrial and occupational safety and administration of labor laws. The department offers a range of services for job seekers and employers through more than 50 career centers. Its vocational rehabilitation offices provide job training and placement for people with disabilities. The department administers laws related to working conditions, employee safety and child labor. The Georgia Department of Labor also inspects elevators, escalators, sidewalks, boilers, pressure vessels, safety glass and high-voltage lines. The department administers Georgia's unemployment insurance, as well as offers information regarding work force to public and private sectors. The Georgia Department of Labor maintains an office in Macon, Ga.
