The Sullivan House is available for public tours on Mondays and Fridays at 3:00 through October. The Sullivan House will be closed August 18 and September 1 - 4, 2023. Please arrive a few minutes before to pay and meet your tour guide. Tickets are $5 for adults, kids and students are free. No reservation is required. The tour lasts approximately 45 min.
Private tours are available but must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance and are subject to staff availability.
Built about 1820 and considered Madison’s first mansion, this stately Federal-style structure was home to one of Indiana's early leaders. Virginia-born Sullivan had an esteemed career as a lawyer, Indiana state legislator, and State Supreme Court justice. Sullivan is credited with suggesting the name “Indianapolis” for our state capital.
